Crescent College Comprehensive progressed to the semi-finals stages of the Clayton Hotels Munster Schools Junior Cup with a 20-8 victory over Bandon Grammar at Irish Independent Park this afternoon.

Crescent took an early lead with a try courtesy of winger Joe McMahon who dotted down right of the posts after collecting a spiralling ball from out-half Werner Hoffman in the 12th minute.

Bandon then responded through out-half Louis Archer who slotted a penalty in front of the posts around the 20-minute mark.

Minutes later, Crescent centre Elvis Duruji crossed following impressive link play from the forwards and backs before full-back Conor O’Halloran added the extras.

After the interval, Bandon lock Sean Coughlan crashed over in the 43rd minute to edge closer to the leaders.

Crescent soon responded with John Lyons barging over the line to push out in front following pressure in the 22.

A late penalty from O’Halloran extended Crescent’s lead and the Limerick school went on to secure their place in the last four.

Crescent College will now face Rockwell College in the semi-finals during the w/c 11 March with fixtures details to be announced in due course.
