Colaiste Pobail Bheanntrai are Munster Schools Girls Junior Cup champions for the first time after defeating titleholders Sacred Heart Clonakilty 15-12 in an end-to-end game in Virgin Media Park.
The Bantry based outfit were the first to put a score on the board as Libby Hicks touched down for an unconverted try in the fourth minute.
It took until just before the break for Colaiste Pobail to lodge yet another score as Zoe Hicks slotted over a penalty to put the side 8-0 ahead at half time.
Sacred Heart fought back hard in the second half scoring back-to-back tries in the opening 15 minutes as both Caoimhe McCarthy and Jenny O’Donnell crossed over. This brought the score to 8-12 with just over ten minutes left on the clock.
But Colaiste Pobail didn’t give up and sealed the victory with a try with just 5 minutes left on the clock. Hicks added the conversion to bring the final score to 15-12.
