Killarney RFC will take on Leinster and Connacht opposition in an U18 Girls Blitz on Saturday, September 30.

Killarney’s U18 Girls squad will play Tuam/Oughterard RFC and Portdara RFC, an amalgamation of Portarlington RFC and Cill Dara RFC, in a round-robin series of games at Old Crescent’s RFC’s Takumi Park.

All three squads and coaching staff will then attend the historic double-header that will take place in Thomond Park later that day which will see the Munster Women’s and Men’s sides take on the Barbarians.

Killarney coach Diarmuid O’Malley said:

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for our girls to play against teams they don’t normally play. So we are really looking forward to it and no doubt it will be hugely beneficial for our players, but it’s more about giving the girls a great day out and to get to see Munster men’s and women’s team play against the mighty Barbarians is just incredible.”

A spokesperson for PortDara said: “The PortDara U18 Girls are delighted to be invited to play in a preseason blitz against Tuam RFC and Killarney RFC in Old Crescent RFC.

“It’s a rare opportunity for them to play against clubs outside of Leinster, and they can’t wait.”

Tuam coach Owen Lydon added, “Tuam/Oughterard are really looking forward to the opportunity of playing games with sides from other provinces. We’re hoping it will enhance their overall rugby experience and of course make new friends. We’re also looking forward to experiencing Thomond Park on a match day.”
