Action continued this weekend with several local junior County Competitions being played.

Cork County Cup Holders Old Christians are out, after they lost at home to Sunday’s Well 25-15 at Rathcooney. Kieran Maye and Fabien Loughrey were the ‘Well try scorers and they were also awarded a penalty try. Ciaran McCarthy kicked two penalties and a conversion. Mark Deane and Cian Smith replied with tries for Old Christians and Keelan Murrell kicked a conversion and a penalty.

The ‘Well will host Mallow in next week’s semi-final after the North Cork side’s 42-26 home win against Skibbereen. Sam Glynn scored two tries for Mallow and Michael O’Callaghan, Steve Finn, Sean O’Riordan and Rhys Ellery got one each. Barry Taylor converted all six tries.

Clonakilty won the West Cork derby defeating local rivals Bandon 14-10 in Bandon. Daniel Coughlan opened the scoring with a penalty for Bandon. A try by Ben Lovell converted by Corrado Beati had the visitors 7-3 ahead at half time. Tom Doyle extended Clonakilty’s advantage with a try early in the second half and Beati converted. Noah Patterson brought Bandon back into the contest with a try which Coughlan converted, but Clon’ held out to take the spoils.

Kanturk came with a late charge to defeat Crosshaven 25-16. Crosshaven dominated the opening half and led 13-8 at the break. Brian O’Sullivan, James Moylan, and Kajus Goberis scored tries for Kanturk. Paul O’Keeffe kicked two conversions and two penalties. Crosshaven replied with a try, conversion and two penalties by Darcy Ryan. Kealan Daly also added a penalty.

Clonakilty will host Kanturk in the other semi-final.

Ballincollig caused a surprise in the O’Neill Cup, when they defeated Kinsale 22-20. Evan Lehane, Billy O’Riordan, David Evans and Brian O’Donnell were the Kinsale try scorers.

A try from Charlie Collins and five penalties by DJ Collins helped Charleville to a 20-10 home win against Youghal. Conor Roche and Ben Incamells replied with tries for the East Cork side.

Next weeks semi-final lineup is Charleville v Muskerry and Balincollig v Fermoy.

In the McElligott Cup, Killorglin defeated Tralee 31-24. Roan O’Shea, Stephen Cotter, Barry Sheehan, James Leslie and Tom Garry were try scorers for Killorglin and Garry kicked three conversions. Scott Ryan replied with two tries for Tralee and Liam Gannon and Nicholas O’Sullivan got one each. Stephen Turner kicked two conversions.

Killarney defeated Corca Dhuibhne 43-19. Peter Walsh and Jack O’Donoghue scored two tries each for Killarney and Matt McAuliffe, Gearoid Sugrue and Padraig Talbot got one each. Sugrue kicked a conversion and a penalty, and Walsh a penalty.
