Irish Colleges Secure 5 Year Sponsorship Deal

Treasury Holdings, the international real estate company, headquartered in Ireland, has added a boost to Irish Rugby this week by announcing a 5 year sponsorship of Irish Colleges Rugby.

Treasury Holdings Announced as Official Partner to the IRFU

The commitment to rugby at this level will greatly enhance this platform for players who are vying for a place on the Irish National team. Many of rugby’s well known players who have come through Irish Colleges played for Ireland and their provinces last year including Paul O’Connell, Bernard Jackman, Marcus Horan, Denis Leamy, Trevor Hogan, Jamie Heaslip, Eoin Reddan and Girvan Dempsey.

The Irish Colleges rugby season is well and truly up and running with the Domestic Wednesday Leagues Division One and Division two into their third round this week. This year the Irish Colleges International Team will play three International Fixtures against the Combined Services at The Stoop on Friday 1st February 2008, the English Students at Henley Rugby Club, London on Friday 14th March 2008 and against the Scottish Universities in Belfast on Friday 22nd February 2008.

Speaking of the launch of the new sponsorship programme, Treasury Holdings’ Chairman Mr. Kevin Kelly said "Treasury Holdings is delighted to commence this rugby sponsorship just as the inter-provincial games are about to take place on the 20th November. We want to recognise the skill and hard work that the players put in at this level, in a bid to make the International team, while trying to juggle their training and match schedules with study for their respective courses. We are looking forward to working with the IRFU to develop both serious and social rugby in colleges across Ireland."

Der Healy, IRFU President said "The development of Rugby in Colleges and Third Level Institutions is an important component of our next Strategic Plan. The recruitment and retention of more adults (male and female) into the Game will be a top priority for us. Clearly more opportunities to play Rugby in College will be a critical part of our strategy. We are delighted that we are in a position to announce our new sponsor, Treasury Holdings, at this time as we embark on our new plan."

The Irish Colleges Rugby Union incorporates Universities, Agricultural Colleges, and Institutes of Technology, Army and Garda Colleges along with other third level instructions. 39 Universities and Colleges and 750 students are involved at this level covering urban and rural Ireland both north and south.

Treasury Holdings is one of Ireland’s largest and most successful property development companies. It has been a pioneer in Dublin’s growing property market and has consistently been ahead in identifying and capitalising on property trends.
