2008 Sports Captial Programme

10th January 2008 By Munster Rugby

The Department of Arts, Sport and Tourisms annual Sports Capital Programme is the major source of grant aid for voluntary and community organisations in Ireland. Application details and guidelines for the 2008 Sports Capital Programme are expected to be announced within the next few weeks.

The 2007 Programme allocated over €1.75 million in grant aid to 17 Rugby Clubs in Munster, while also contributing €3 million to the Thomond Park Development project.

The Development Office has recently conducted a facility audit of rugby Club throughout Munster. This has highlighted the need to prioritise developments such as match quality floodlighting, artificial pitch training areas and upgrading natural pitches with drainage systems etc.

Considerable time has been spent compiling information on these areas and sourcing quality suppliers who meet criteria set down by Munster Rugby.

We therefore strongly advise all Clubs planning to apply to the Sports Capital Programme to contact the Club Development Manager for assistance with their application.

Guidelines and Application Forms will be available on the Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism website. http://www.dast.gov.ie/.
