UL Bohs Accepting Ireland’s Call

Munster have three players starting as Ireland Women look to turnover France in their toughest test thus far in this year’s Six Nations

With UL Bohemians flying high at the top of the Women’s AIL, the Limerick club form another strong representation in the latest Irish women’s side, looking to extend their perfect run in the Six Nations against a tough French side.

No less than three girls from UL Bohs will be present and correct on Sunday afternoon (KO12.45), as Tom Tierney’s side look to make home advantage count against a French side with a win and a loss to their name in the tournament thus far.

Eimear Considine comes in on the wing for the Irish, making her second ever cap for the Irish having begun her senior international career in the opening weekend win against Scotland. She’s joined by ever-present team-mate Ciara Griffin, who will wear the number 6 jersey. Highfield’s Leah Lyons starts in the middle of the front-row, as Ireland face a tough task.

Coming in on the bench meanwhile is Louise Galvin, who will be hoping to make her international début at Donnybrook, having had a sterling season thus far for Bohemians.

Speaking on the selection, Tom Tierney said;

“We made things hard for ourselves at times in Italy, especially in the first half where we weren't as accurate as we needed to be. However in the second half we improved and to claim the try-bonus with the last play of the game was very pleasing

We now head into a tough test on Sunday against the French. They recovered well from their defeat to England on the opening weekend to show why they are defending champions as they beat Scotland well.

We've got a couple of players getting their first Six Nations starts of this season, and we're looking to continue to give players more game time as we continue to develop depth in the squad ahead of the Women's Rugby World Cup in August.

It's our first home game of the Six Nations so we're hoping to see a big turnout of fans on Sunday in Donnybrook.”
