Twilight 10s Held In MTU Cork

Earlier this month the second of this season’s Twilight 10s event was held in MTU Cork as teams from across the province competed in this adapted version of the game.

College teams from throughout Munster in addition to Sunday’s Well, fielded sides to play 10-a-side games in a blitz format.

There were six men’s teams and two women’s teams who competed on the night. Teams came from UL, MTU Cork, MTU Kerry, TUS, SETU and Sunday’s Well.

The format of the games put a strong emphasis on participation ensuring that the game is as accessible as possible.

Each men’s team played three games of 20 minutes while the women’s teams played two games of 20 minutes.

Twilight 10s has been held annually for the last number of years and it is an important event in the rugby calendar as it gives college students another opportunity to play rugby. The blitzes can also provide a springboard for colleges who may wish to participate in the SSI/IRFU Rugby Competitions later in the year.

For more details or if your college wish to get involved and participate in future Twilight 10s events this season, please email Participation Programme Co-Ordinator Ray Gadsden raygadsden@munsterrugby.ie.
