Round Up | Schools Junior Cup Quarter-Finals

Crescent College and Rockwell College contested the first quarter-final.

Crescent College Comprehensive and St Munchin’s booked their places in the Clayton Hotels Munster Schools Junior Cup semi-finals after pushing past Rockwell College and PBC respectively this afternoon.

On Wednesday 4 March, Crescent will face CBC at Irish Independent Park while St Munchin’s take on Ardscoil Rís at Thomond Park, both at 2pm.

Rockwell v Crescent

Rockwell claimed the first score after five minutes with hooker Joseph Lawrence going over from close range before Kian O’Reilly added the extras.

Crescent responded with a try of their own in the 11th minute, winger Henry Ezomo gathered a ball out-wide following an impressive move along the backline.

Crescent continued to pressurise and were soon rewarded with their second score in the 26th minute, flanker Conor Cleary bustling his way over. Ciaran Campbell added the conversion.

Crescent extended their lead with a penalty from Campbell in the 53rd minute.

PBC v St Munchin’s

At the Markets Field, last year’s beaten finalists St Munchin’s caused a big upset with a 10-5 victory over Presentation Brothers College in the Clayton Hotels Munster Schools Junior Cup quarter-final.

In a tightly contested opening half, a try from Jacob Sheahan after 23 minutes gave Pres’ a 5-0 interval lead.

11 minutes into the second-half, Munchin’s took the lead with a try from Oisin Minogue and Cillian O’Connor converted.

O’Connor added a penalty five minutes from time to send them into the semi-finals next week and a derby game against Ardscoil Rís.
