Junior Weekend Preview

The Bank of Ireland Munster Junior Cup gets underway this weekend with five first round ties down for decision on Sunday.

Charleville entertain Dungarvan at Smith’s Road and the winners will be rewarded with a home tie against Bantry Bay or Killorglin, who go head to head in West Cork.

Douglas-Carrigaline make the long trip to the West Kerry Gaeltacht to take on Chorca Dhuibhne. The winners will be away to Kinsale in Round 2.

Ennis welcome Bruff to the Banner County and the winners will be rewarded with home advantage against Highfield.

Fermoy have received a walk over from Midleton and they will now travel to Limerick to take on St Mary’s Sunday week.

Tralee entertain Thomond and the winners will be away to Clonakilty.

There is one game in Division 1 of the Munster Junior League.

Richmond, who are third and a point behind Bandon and Clonmel on 26 points are also presented with an opportunity of claiming top spot as they host sixth-placed Abbeyfeale.

The only game in Division 2 sees Killarney, who are propping up the table taking on sixth-placed Kinsale. The South Cork side are currently sixth following their 12-11 home win over Clonakilty at the end of November.

The semi-finals of the Munster Junior Clubs’ Challenge Shield are down for decision with four Clubs from the Rebel County involved.

Muskerry and Ballincollig lock horns in a Mid Cork derby at Ellis Park and Old Christians are at home to Clonakilty.
