Junior Rugby Weekend Preview

Weekend action scheduled in the Junior Clubs Challenge Cup and Martin O'Sullivan Cup.

The three Munster Junior knock-out competitions get underway this weekend.

In the Junior Clubs’ Challenge Cup, holders Kilfeacle begin their defence of the trophy against Galbally at the County Limerick venue.

The winners will be rewarded with a home tie in the quarter finals against Kanturk or Abbeyfeale, who go head to head in Duhallow.

Clonmel and Newcastle West lock horns at the South Tipperary venue, with Richmond awaiting the winners.

Cobh Pirates host Waterpark and the winners will have a home quarter final against Youghal or Skibbereen, who meet in East Cork.

St Senan’s welcome Clanwilliam to the Banner County and the winners will have home advantage in the quarter finals against Bandon.

There are two ties down for decision under lights on Saturday evening in the Junior Clubs’ Challenge Shield.

Holders Thurles welcome Mallow to Mid Tipperary and the winners will be away to the winners of Sunday’s Cork derby between Old Christians and Mitchelstown, which takes place at Rathcooney.

St Mary’s host Clonakilty at Grove Island and the winners will be away to last season’s finalists Kinsale.

In other ties on Sunday, Killarney welcome Waterford City to the Kingdom and the winners will be at home to Ballincollig.

Muskerry who lost to Castleisland last week in the league will hope to advance with Crosshaven waiting in the quarter final for the winners.

There is one tie in the first round of the Martin O’Sullivan Cup down for decision as Charleville take on Ennis at Smith’s Road. The winners will be away to Chorca Dhuibhne in the quarter finals.
