Cork Constitution and Kilfeacle advanced in the Bank of Ireland Munster Junior Cup as Mallow knock holders Thurles out of the Munster Junior Plate.

Cork Constitution defeated Clonmel 22-3 at Temple Hill to book their place in the final of the Junior Cup on Sunday 29th April at Irish Independent Park.

Brendan Monahan opened the scoring with a try for Con’ and Niall Finn converted. A second try from Barry Galvin gave the Temple Hill side a 12-0 half-time lead.

Conor Cooney kicked a penalty for Clonmel but a try, conversion and a penalty by Niall Finn ensured Con’s place in the final.

Kilfeacle will travel to Richmond next Sunday in the other semi-final after they defeated Newcastle West 27-7 in their outstanding quarter final tie. A try from Jack McLoughlin and a Jamie Heuston penalty gave Kilfeacle an 8-0 interval lead. Kevin Kinane, James Hogan and Stephen Quirke added second half tries and Heuston kicked two conversions. Declan Moloney replied with a try for the visitors and Sean Herlihy converted.

Mallow are through to the semi-final of the Junior Plate after their 17-10 home win over holders Thurles. Hugh Barry scored a try for Mallow and they were also awarded a penalty try. Jimmy Glynn kicked a conversion and a penalty. Eoghan O’Dwyer and Aidan Dwyer replied with tries for Thurles.

Fermoy’s late run has seen them clinch the promotion play-off place from Division 3 of the Munster Junior League after their 20-11 away win at Ennis. This result will be very pleasing to Fermoy’s Coach Robbie Doyle who has coached sides to promotion in three of the last four years.

Fermoy led 10-3 at half time with a try from Dan O’Brien and a conversion and a penalty by Eoin Lacey. Ronan O’Halloran kicked a penalty for Ennis.

Tries from James O’Driscoll and O’Brien ensured Fermoy’s place in Division Two next season. Dylan Tynan O’Mahony scored a try for Ennis and Bryan Murphy added a penalty.

Richmond prepared for their Junior Cup semi-final with a 69-3 victory over Shannon in the semi-final of the Transfield Cup. Kieran Bennett and Gareth O’Hanlon scored two tries each of Richmond’s eleven tries. Keelan Stephenson, Stephen Collins, Tadgh Bennett, Jack O’Hanlon, Corry Wells, Sean Considine and Brian Mullins got one apiece. Luke Moylan replied with a drop goal for Shannon.

Youghal defeated Cobh Pirates 17-14 in their rearranged Division 1 game a result that sees Cobh finishing bottom of the table and Youghal finished five points above them. Scott O’Sullivan scored Youghal’s try, Keith McCarthy kicked two penalties and a drop goal and Lee McCarthy also added a penalty. Eoin McSweeney and Martin Clifford were Cobh’s try scorers and Ian Jones converted both.

Clonakilty booked their place in the Cork County Cup Final with a 21-15 away win at Skibbereen. Ger McCarthy, Moss Downey and Robert Finglas scored tries for Clonakilty and Andy McCarthy converted all three. Rory Hone and Darren Lynch scored tries for Skibb’ and Ger Hurley added a conversion and a penalty. Clon’ will now face Kanturk in the final at Musgrave Park on Thursday 26th April.

Castleisland won the McElligott Cup defeating Tralee 20-13 in the final. Kieran Downey scored two tries for Castleisland and Brian Leonard added a try, conversion and a penalty.

Dunmanway booked their place in the Kelly Cup final against Cobh Pirates after their 26-14 win over holders Bandon. Andrew Doyle, Eoin O’Sullivan, Tom Daly and Darragh McCarthy scored tries for Dunmanway and McCarthy kicked three conversions.
