Introducing The Rugby Development Department

The Munster Rugby Development Department recently held a group workshop and planning morning in the Charleville Park Hotel.

As an added bonus the team was delighted to host Midleton and Munster legend and current All Blacks assistant coach Jason Holland as their guest for the day.

The key objective of the Rugby Development Department is to “Provide the Best Possible Rugby Experience for All”. To achieve this staff endeavour to “Help Clubs and Schools to Help Themselves” by working with coaches, administrators, and volunteers to educate and resource them.

Building strong relationships and working closely with the Munster Rugby community across all aspects of the game is seen as crucial to the continued development of rugby in the province.

A new digital document has been created outlining the structure of the Rugby Development Department. The document gives an overview of staff roles and responsibilities as well as providing contact details for all. There are also tables that allow you to identify your club’s designated Rugby Development Officers and Womens Development Officers.

The meeting in Charleville allowed all the department staff to come together and share information and experiences from the season so far. Thoughts and ideas were shared amongst the group as they workshopped different topics and discussed priorities for the months ahead.
Some of the questions posed to the group included the values and traditions of rugby and how as a team they can help clubs create the best possible environments for their players and members to stay involved in the game.

The day concluded with Jason Holland speaking with the group on topics such as leadership and fielding questions on his new role as All blacks assistant coach along with a few enlightening stories from his playing days.
