Greencore Munster Academy Players In Ireland 7s Training Squad

The second time Steve McMahon and Greg O’Shea have been called up for Ireland 7s duty in recent weeks.

Greencore Munster Academy players Steve McMahon and Greg O’Shea have been included in Anthony Eddy’s Ireland Men’s 7s squad for a three-day training camp commencing Friday this week.

As the men’s programme continues its preparation for the Rugby Europe Grand Prix in June and July, IRFU Director of Sevens Rugby, Anthony Eddy has named a 14-man squad who will train with the Spain and Portugal 7s as part of the training camp.

Garryowen’s Steve McMahon and Shannon’s Greg O’Shea – who both won the Clayton Schools Senior Cup in following years with Rockwell and Crescent College respectively – make up the Munster contingent, giving the academy players further opportunity to develop their skills in the shorter form of the game with a diverse Irish squad.

The pair were involved in a training camp last month with the squad, and Munster Rugby wishes them all the best with this latest camp.

Ahead of the camp, Eddy said; “This weekend's camp is another important part of our training programme as we work towards the Rugby Europe Grand Prix later in the year. Both Portugal and Spain are quality sides, and the players will gain valuable experience from testing themselves against this sort of opposition”.
