Emerging Schools Finals Day Takes Centre Stage

A host of schools recently took part in the Marks & Spencer Emerging Schools U15 Finals Day at Irish Independent Park.

Waterpark, CBS Tralee, Michelstown, Midleton CBS and Bantry all competed following four different blitzes in East Munster, West Munster, Cork City, West Cork and North Cork with the top two from each qualifying for finals day.

The blitzes have allowed schools either not traditionally involved in school tournaments, or looking to establish themselves further within the Munster Rugby school system, give their pupils a chance of competitive action.

Schools competed in two groups at Irish Independent Park with the winners of Group A (Midleton CBS) playing the winners of Group B (De La Salle College) in an exciting final.

Del La Salle were victorious after scoring in the last second of time in a dramatic finish.
