The latest edition of Club Notes comes from Waterpark RFC.

By Mark Stewart.

History was made on February 19th as Waterpark RFC fielded its first All-Girls U10s Minis Team who took on Kilkenny RFC in their first outing.

This group of girls, made up of players who previously featured as part of the U9s & U10s mixed program (and some of whom only started playing rugby in recent weeks), played a great competitive match showcasing their skills, teamwork and scoring some fantastic tries.

And, most importantly, they had loads of fun!

The Girls U10s also went on to play in the mixed team rugby games with their teammates directly afterwards showing their determination, resilience and rugby spirit.

The club would like say well done to the girls; and thank the parents and coaches for their support.

Waterpark RFC have a strong Minis and Youth section and, over the last number of years, have run a successful “Give it a Try” program as part of the wider IRFU initiative.

As the name suggests, this program gives girls an opportunity to take part in a number of introduction training sessions, and get involved in the game.

Waterpark RFC is both delighted and proud to announce that the 2023 program will commence in mid-April.

Waterpark RFC Minis train every Saturday from 10am – 11am with boys and girls age grades from U7s up to U12s. Waterpark also have boys and girls youth teams as well as ladies and men’s senior teams who train weekly.
