Holders Cork Constitution got the better of All Ireland League Division 1A leaders St. Mary’s College at Templeville Road, as Young Munster’s play-off hopes received a setback.

The top game of the day saw Cork Constitution defeat St. Mary’s College 30-29 to move into second place a point behind leaders Clontarf. George Coomber, Jack Kelleher, Louis Kahn and Adam Maher were Con’ try scorers. Coomber kicked two conversions and James Taylor added two penalties.

A last minute penalty denied Young Munster’s victory away to City of Armagh as they went down to a 16-15 defeat and are now ten points off a play-off place. Hubert Gilvarry and Ihechi Oji scored tries for “The Cookies” and Julian Leszczynski added a conversion and a penalty.

Garryowen remain at the foot of the table after they suffered a heavy 35-9 home defeat to Terenure College. Jack Oliver kicked three penalties for the “Light Blues”.

In Division 1B, Nenagh Ormond had to grind out a hard earned 24-18 home win against bottom side Shannon. The sides were tied 3-3 at half time but tries from Dylan Murphy, Kevin O’Flaherty and a penalty try gave the home side the points. Conor McMahon converted both tries and also added a penalty. Shannon were awarded a penalty try and also had a try from Matt Te Pau. John O’Sullivan kicked two penalties.

A last minute try denied U.C.C. victory away to Dublin University, as they suffered a 24-21 defeat. This result sees Trinity win the Dudley Cup. Michael Cogan, Sean Condon and Sean Dunne scored tries for the Cork students and Harry Murphy kicked three conversions.

Highfield’s recent revival continued as they defeated high flying Old Wesley 13-6 at Woodleigh Park. Richard Cassidy scored a try for Highfield and Shane O’Riordan converted and also added two penalties.

In Division 2A, Cashel kept in contention for a play-off place with a 13-5 home win against Galway Corinthians. Tom Tobin scored a try for the Tipperary side and Tim Townsend converted and kicked two penalties.

Old Crescent eased their relegation worries with a 27-22 away win at Ballymena. Timmy Duggan, James McKeogh and Jamie Duggan scored tries for the Limerick side and Ronan McKenna kicked three conversions and two penalties.

U.L. Bohemian suffered a surprising 20-19 home defeat by Malone in Division 2B. Liam Neilan, Oisin Fagan and Joe Johnson scored tries for ‘Bohs and Fagan added two conversions.

Having lost their first game of the season in Division 2C, leaders Midleton lost further ground as they were held at home to a 15-15 draw by bottom side Omagh Academicals, the levelling score coming with a last minute penalty for the visitors. Joannes du Toit scored two tries for Midleton and Kyle Read got one.

Dolphin slipped down to fourth place after their 25-22 away defeat by Ballyclare. Cameron O’Shaughnessy, Cian Scott and Karl Waterman scored tries for Dolphin and Jordan Soli kicked two conversions and a penalty.

Clonmel dropped out of the play-off places after their 31-25 away defeat at Enniscorthy. Michael Connellan and Luke Hogan scored tries for Clonmel and Josef O’Connor kicked five penalties.

Bruff defeated Tullamore 20-15 in a big relegation battle, that sees the Limerick side open up a seven point gap thanks to a try from John Sheehan and a penalty try. Paul Collins kicked a conversion and two penalties.

In the Women’s AIL holders U.L. Bohemian maintained their challenge with a  55-0 win away to bottom side Tullow. Aoife Corey scored two of Bohs nine tries and Kate Flannery, Laoise McGonagle, Caitriona Finn, Ciara Mcloughlin, Eilis Cahill, Grainne Burke and Aoife O’Shaughnessy got one each. Finn kicked three conversions and Flannery two.

Cooke defeated Ballincollig 29-17 at Shaws Bridge and moved above the Cork side in the table. Kate O’Sullivan, Alison Kelly, Laurileigh Baker were the Ballincollig try scorers and Emma Connolly added one conversion.
