350 Players Attend Girls Schools 7s Event In Rockwell College

On Wednesday, the Rugby Development Department held a Girls Schools Sevens event in Rockwell College.

The event saw over 350 players in attendance from a range of different schools all over Munster which included Coláiste Íde agus Iosef Abbeyfeale, Ardscoil Mhuire, Bandon Grammar School, Coláiste Pobail Bheanntraí, St Joseph’s College Borrisoleigh, Cashel Community School, Sacred Heart Clonakilty, Coláiste Íde Dingle, John The Baptist Hospital, Kinsale Community College, Presentation Clonmel, Presentation Fethard, Rockwell College, Scariff Community College, St Anne’s Community College Killaloe, St Mary’s Nenagh, Thomond Community College and Villiers.

The day also acted as a qualification event for the Schools National Sevens competition which will take place in Dublin next week.

After the day’s matches, Sacred Heart Clonakilty and St Anne’s Community College Killaloe will be Munster’s representatives at the national competition next week.

Each school at each age-grade received a minimum of four games on the day.

Munster Rugby staff members Ken Imbusch, Ray Gadsden, Olan Daly, Ben Swindlehurst, Rosemary Dillon, Willie Shubart and Kenneth McNamara and Women’s Sub-Committee member Grace Kearney ran the event which was a huge success.

The Rugby Development Department would also like to thank the Munster Association of Referees for providing assistance on the day.
