On Saturday, Ballincollig RFC will make their long-awaited return to the top division of women’s club rugby in Ireland.

The 2021/22 Women’s All Ireland League kicks off this weekend with Ballincollig hosting Suttonians at Tanner Park at 3pm on Saturday.

Unsurprisingly, there is huge excitement around the club after Ballincollig’s entry to the AIL was delayed by a season after the cancellation of last year’s campaign due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

We caught up with the club’s Director of Rugby Denis Stevenson, Head Coach Fiona Hayes and co-captain Gillian Coombes who look ahead to Saturday and what it means for the Cork club.
