Senior Weekend Preview

Alan Tynan kicked the only score of the game against Cork Constitution

The only action in The Ulster Bank All Ireland League this weekend is in Divisions 1A and 1B with seven games under lights on Friday night.

Garryowen and Young Munster lock horns in a Limerick derby at Dooradoyle on Friday evening. Garryowen recorded a narrow 13-11 victory when these sides met at Tom Clifford Park in November and they will be looking to make the most of home advantage count in a bid to bounce back from their shock defeat against bottom side Terenure College last time out. Young Munster moved up to second place following last week’s home win over table toppers Lansdowne.

On Saturday Cork Constitution, who slipped to third following their defeat by UCD in Belfield will be expected to claim all points on offer as they welcome struggling Dublin University to Temple Hill. The home side ran out 30-10 winners when these sides met at College Park.

Dolphin and UCC go head to head in a basement clash in Division 1B at Irish Independent Park on Friday evening. Dolphin, who are propping up the table, ran out 25-15 winners when these sides met at the Mardyke, while UCC are hovering above the relegation zone following their 18-9 home defeat by UL Bohemian last weekend.

The two Limerick sides in this division are in action on Saturday.

Shannon, who are second from bottom following their home win over Galwegians, travel to the Capital to take on third-placed Old Wesley with whom they played out a 24-24 draw at Thomond Park in November.

Second-placed UL Bohemian take on fourth-placed Naas at Thomond Park, with Limerick side aiming to avenge November’s 13-10 defeat when these sides met in County Kildare.
