Crescent College Comprehensive opened their Clayton Hotels Munster Schools Junior Cup campaign on the back pitch in Thomond Park with a 15-5 victory against Glenstal Abbey.

Crescent dominated the opening half and went ahead with an early penalty from Conor O’Halloran.

Five minutes from half-time Cian Kirby got in for a Crescent try which O’Halloran converted for a 10-0 half-time lead.

Twelve minutes from time, Crescent made it 15-0 with a try from Jamie Duggan and Glenstal replied with a try two minutes later from Dermot Hughes.

However, it was Crescent who advanced to the quarter-finals and a meeting with Bandon Grammar School next month.
