Kilfeacle were beaten in All Ireland Provincial League, as Old Christians and St. Mary’s caused shocks in the Bank of Ireland Munster Junior Cup.

Kilfeacle’s hopes of moving up to Senior Ranks have ended for another year after they lost their All Ireland League Championship to Boyne 36-28 at Mullingar. A disappointing opening half saw the Tipperary side trail 17-0 at the interval and entering the final quarter, the game looked over as Boyne were 31-0 ahead, but like all Kilfeacle sides of the past they never threw in the towel. Two tries from Jacques van Wyngaardt and one each by Rian Doody and Muiri Lambe, all converted by Luke Heuston was not enough to save the day for Kilfeacle.

Old Christians advanced to the quarter finals of the Bank of Ireland Munster Junior Cup with a 40-21 home win against Young Munster.

Mark Deane, Mark Gleeson, Sammy Haberlin, Tim Hegarty, Oscar Clark and Cian Smith scored tries for the Rathcooney side. Haberlin kicked two penalties and two conversions.

Old Christians will travel to Nenagh Ormond in the next round, after the Tipperary side defeated Killarney 17-7 at the Killarney venue. James Finn, John Healy and Robbie Tynan scored tries for Nenagh and Joseph Gleeson added a conversion. Tomas Clifford replied with a try for Killarney and Donnchadh Grealy converted.

Newcastle West defeated Kinsale 52-13 to setup a home quarter final against Cork Constitution. Sean Murphy scored four of Newcastle West’s  eight tries. Shane Airey got two and James Guina and Sean Darcy got the others. Airey and Guina each kicked three conversions. Tom Good and Gavin McCarthy replied with tries for Kinsale and Dylan Lacey kicked a penalty.

Cork Constitution were 38-15 winners against Muskerry at Temple Hill. Bruce Matthews scored two tries for the winners and Gavin O’Riordan, David Bamidele, George Good and Mike Cogan got one each. Matthews kicked four conversions. Frankie Horgan and Ryan Spillane got a try each for Muskerry and Dan Morrissey kicked a penalty and a conversion.

St Mary’s defeated Mallow 21-15 at MultiFlow Park with two tries from Rob Guerin and one by Stephen Hayes. Adam Guerin converted all three tries. Dave Breen and Sean O’Riordan replied with tries for Mallow and Sam Glynn kicked a penalty and a conversion.

Mary’s will host either UCC or Highfield in the last eight.

Sunday’s Well came from 14-8 down at half time to beat Kanturk 18-14 at the Duhallow venue. Robert Loftus and Cormac Kelliher scored tries for the ‘Well and Ciaran O’Conor kicked two penalties and a conversion. Ciaran Vaughan and Con O’Sullivan replied with tries for Kanturk and Matthew Hooton converted both.

The ‘Well will have home advantage against Kilfeacle in the next round.

In the Bank of Ireland Junior Plate quarter finals Ennis had a narrow 39-35 away win at Cobh. Brendan Keane, Luke Fitzgerald and Callum Barrett scored tries for Ennis and Dylan Kenny kicked two conversions and two penalties. Ennis were also awarded two penalty tries. Cobh Pirates replied with tries from Kilian O’Connell, Saul Kahn, Jack Grant and Diego Smith. Mike White kicked three penalties and three conversions.

Ennis will host Tralee in the semi-finals, after the Kerry side defeated Fethard away 33-19. Leon Tanfin, Ben Glavin, Gavin Peevers, Cathal Kearney and Fion de Quadros scored tries for Tralee and Stephen Turner kicked four conversions. Paddy Gaynor, Peter Wall and Mick Lawrence were try scorers for Fethard and Wall added two conversions.

Clonmel had an easy 48-7 away win against Midleton. Ben O’Dwyer scored four of Clonmel’s eight tries, with Darren Slattery, Billy Coffey, Brian O’Dea and Sean McEntagert being the other try scorers. Aidan Hickey kicked four conversions. Denis Walsh was Midleton’s try scorer and Stuart O’Connor converted.

Clonmel will host Youghal in the other semi-final after their 38-33 home win against Fermoy. Pa O’Shea, Scott O’Sullivan, Rory Fitzgerald, Nathan O’Halloran, Kelvin Yellop and Conor Roche scored tries for Youghal, with O’Halloran adding four conversions. Daragh O’Sullivan and Harry O’Donovan each replied with two tries for Fermoy and Will Buttimer got one. Eoin Lacey kicked four conversions.

Carrick-on-Suir booked their place in the Final of the Junior Clubs Shield where they will face Kinsale in the final, after their 35-14 home win against Ballincollig. Braedon Wheeler, Matthew Cavanagh, Will Kennedy, Ronan O’Connell and Fionn Barry were the Carrick’ try scorers. Barry added two conversions and two penalties.
