The Munster squad has been named for the upcoming Vodafone Women’s Interprovincial Championship.

Munster head coach Niamh Briggs has named a 34-woman squad ahead of the Interpros which kick off on Saturday, January 7th.

18 players have been retained from last year’s Championship winning squad while six of the current squad have been involved with the national 15s side this year.

Briggs has extensive experience coaching at the highest level in her current roles as head coach of UL Bohemian RFC and assistant coach of the national side. The Waterford native held the role of assistant coach of the Munster Senior Women squad last season.

Matt Brown, who successfully led Munster to the Women’s Interprovincial Championship last season, will act as assistant coach. Brown was recently appointed as a Pathway Development Coach with Munster Rugby and has previously coached at Galwegians, Clanwilliam, Railway Union and Old Wesley along with the Munster U18 Women side.

Fiona Hayes and Mike Storey complete Briggs’ coaching staff.

Hayes was the head coach of the Munster U18 Girls squad in the 2021/22 season while Storey resumes his role as assistant coach with the former Munster prop having held that role with the Munster Senior Women’s squad for a number of years.

Sara Hartigan continues in the position of Team Manager having previously held that role last season.

The Vodafone Women’s Interprovincial Championship will take place on three successive weekends – January 7th, January 14th and January 21st.

Munster kick off their interprovincial campaign against Ulster at Musgrave Park on January 7th which is followed by the visit of Leinster to Musgrave Park on January 14th before a trip to Galway to take on Connacht in the Sportsground on January 21st.
