Munster Rugby in the Community

Munster Rugby in conjunction with the Knocknaheeny/Holyhill Rugby Group recently ran a week long Summer Camp in Terence MacSwiney Community College.

This was the first time a camp has been run in the local community and it proved to be a huge success with a large turnout of boys and girls taking part in a fun and friendly environment under the excellent guidance of coaches from the Munster Rugby Domestic Game Department.

For many of the children this was their first opportunity to experience rugby in a controlled safe environment. As the camp progressed through the week the improvement in the children’s skills was quite remarkable to see as were the increased levels of confidence on display. The children of Knocknaheeny and Holyhill proved that the local community is bursting with young sporting talent and Munster Rugby look forward to helping untap that potential.

Special thanks must go to the Holyhill Rugby Group who oversaw the fundraising for this camp. The group included representatives from the Cork City Council, We the People CDP, Le Cheile School Completion Programme, Barnardos, Niche Community Health Project, Ogra Chorcai, Special Justice Project, RAPID and the Community Gardai.
