Twelve players have been named in the Ireland U18 Women’s Sevens squad to compete at the U18 Sevens Home Nations tournament against Wales, Scotland and England this weekend in Swansea University.

Three Munster players are named in the squad with promising youngsters Marlise Flynn (Carrick on Suir RFC), Méabh McElligott (Listowel RFC) and Chisom Ugwueru (Ennis RFC) all included.

This is the tournament’s second year, with the Irish side coming out on top last year where Béibhinn Parsons and Grace Browne Moran both competed.

This is the second tournament for the Ireland U18 Women’s Sevens squad this season and forms part of the Women’s Sevens Development pathway for this group. The side competed in the Paris World Games in Marcoussis last month where they finished in second place.

Ivana Kiripati, Amanda McQuade, Marlise Flynn and Chisom Ugwueru will make their first appearance in the squad.

The team will compete in their final tournament of the season, where they will come up against the best sides in Europe at the Rugby Europe U-18 Women’s Sevens Championship in Jarcoin, Poland on August 31 and September 1.
