Ben Healy kicked an injury time penalty for Garryowen to give them a 13-12 win over UCC at the Mardyke

The All Ireland League has reached the half way stage with both Cork Constitution and Highfield extending their leads at the top of the table in their respective divisions.

Cork Constitution beat bottom side Terenure College 34-14 at Lakelands Park. They opened the scoring with a penalty try and Gavin Duffy, Jason Higgins and Pat Casey added tries. Aidan Moynihan kicked three conversions and two penalties.

A Ben Healy penalty in added time earned Garryowen a 14-12 win over U.C.C. at the Mardyke to move the Limerick side into fourth place. James Taylor kicked three penalties and a drop goal on eighty minutes that looked like giving the students a 12-11 win. Sean O’Connor scored a try for Garryowen and Healy also added a penalty and a drop goal.

Three second half penalties from Jake Flannery helped Shannon to a 9-8 win over at Thomond Park.

Young Munster lost at home to Clontarf 17-11. Shane Fenton scored a try For Munsters and Shane Airey kicked two penalties.

Highfield had to move their Division 2A game with Blackrock College to Irish Independent Park after their pitch was declared unplayable. The game produced fifteen tries, ten to Highfield. Dave O’Sullivan, Gavin O’Leary, Dan Healy, Ben Murphy and Luke Kingston were Highfield’s try scorers. Shane O’Riordan kicked eight conversions.

Cashel maintained their challenge with a 23-7 home win over Navan. Niall Fitzgerald scored two tries for Cashel and James Newton converted both and added three penalties.

UL Bohemian maintained their promotion challenge with a hard earned 13-10 away win at Rosbrien against Old Crescent. The visitors were 10-0 ahead after ten minutes with a try from Brian Walsh and a conversion and penalty by Mike Mullally.

Ronan McKenna kicked a penalty for Crescent before half time but early in the second half a Mullally penalty made it 13-3. A try by Cathal O’Reilly converted by McKenna seven minutes from time saw an exciting finish to this derby tie.

Dolphin have moved up to sixth place after their 13-10 home win over Queens University. Daryl Foley kicked a late penalty to win the game for the home side. Paul Daly scored Dolphin’s try and Foley converted and also added another penalty.

Nenagh Ormond lost away to bottom side Galwegians 20-12. Fergal Brislane scored a try for Nenagh and they were also awarded a penalty try.

Sunday’s Well suffered their fifth successive defeat in Division 2B when they lost away to bottom side Skerries 5-0.

Midleton maintained their challenge in Division 2C with a 14-7 away win at Tullamore. Mark Corby and Maurice Daly scored tries for Midleton and Stuart Lee converted both.

Bruff collected maximum points from their 24-7 home win over Thomond. In an exciting opening half Bruff raced into a 10-0 lead with tries from Cian Clifford and Mike Cooke.

Thomond kept in touch with a penalty try but a try by Tom O’Dwyer converted by Kevin McManus had Bruff 17-7 ahead at half time. The only score of the second half was a fourth try by Johnny Cleary converted by McManus to secure a bonus point victory for the home side.
