Periodisation & Performance Seminar

The Periodisation & Performance Seminar in association with Munster Rugby will take place at the Physical Education and Sports Science Building, University of Limerick this Saturday May 14th from 10 am to 4.30pm.

Providing excellent insight for strength and conditioning coaches, field sport coaches (rugby, soccer, GAA, etc), track and field coaches, medical and physiotherapy staff, and anyone with an interest in athletic preparation and performance, the seminar will be an opportunity to learn from leading experts as they discuss the principles of periodisation, and how these impact the planning of training in order to achieve improved performance.
 
The seminar will include the following:

  • A look at the history of training to learn ‘why we do what we do’, as well as a critical analysis of current trends in periodisation
  • Simple solutions to complex problems presented in sport
  • A collection of ideas and directions for evolving the planning of training
  • Discussion among coaches on how to apply different concepts in training  

 
Presenters:

  • John Kiely has experience as an international competitor, coach, sports scientist and strength and conditioning specialist across a range of sports. John was Head of Strength and Conditioning for UK Athletics between 2005 and 2009, and most recently has been involved with the IRFU providing strength and conditioning support to the senior squad
  • Martin Bingisser, a tax attorney, track and field coach, and five-time Swiss national champion in the hammer throw. He has been training with Dr Anatoliy Bondarchuk since 2005 and writes frequently on a range of training topics, including periodisation on his blog hmmrmedia.com
