Kilcoyne Set For 100

Should he feature in Saturday’s Guinness PRO12 encounter with Scarlets, Dave Kilcoyne will win his 100th cap for the province, becoming the twelfth player of the current squad to achieve the career milestone.

A former Schools player for Ardscoil Rís, with whom he won the Munster Schools Junior Cup, and a product of the Greencore Munster Rugby Academy, Kilcoyne made his senior debut for the province against Connacht at Thomond Park in December 2011 and later that season helped Munster A to the 2012 British and Irish Cup title.

Moving to a full senior contract at the start of the 2012/13 season, the Limerick native made his first European appearance as a starter against Racing Metro at Stade de France the following October and an impressive 2013/14 season saw him play 30 of Munster's 31 games and win inclusion in the PRO12 Dream Team.

With trademark carries and a nose for the tryline, the 27-year-old has crossed for no less than 13 tries in 99 appearances thus far with his ability also recognised on the international stage.

Winning his first Irish cap against South Africa in the 2012 November Series, the following season Kilcoyne made his 6 Nations debut against Wales in the Millennium Stadium and scored his first international try against Georgia in the 2014 November Series.  To date the loosehead has made 15 appearances in green.

In December 2014 Kilcoyne signed a two year contract extension that will keep him at the province until at least June 2017.

Those in the current squad who have already reached 100 Munster caps are Tomás O'LearyDenis Hurley, Donnacha RyanBilly HollandKeith EarlsTommy O'DonnellIan KeatleyBJ BothaDuncan Williams, Stephen Archer and most recently Simon Zebo.
