Connacht Visit Thomond This Saturday

Munster return to Guinness PRO12 action on Saturday evening as Connacht visit Thomond Park in a highly-anticipated Irish derby (KO 5:15pm).
Games between Munster and Connacht are invariably hotly-contested battles with very little to choose between the teams. Hosts Munster will be keen to get back to winning ways after their four-game unbeaten run in the PRO12 came to an end against Ospreys in Swansea earlier this month.
Anthony Foley's men now lie in third place in the table with the race for the top-four going down to the wire. Pat Lam’s Connacht are also fighting for a PRO12 play-off place and were 24-16 winners at the Sportsground when the sides met on New Year's Day.
The Westerners are in sixth place in the league and looking to achieve a season’s double over their rivals for the first time. Munster have won their last five home games, however, including impressive wins over Cardiff Blues and Glasgow Warriors.
Connacht have secured three away wins in the Guinness PRO12 this season and all four of their fixtures with fellow Irish provinces this season have been won by the home side on the day.
Munster won both clashes between the sides last year with JJ Hanrahan scored all 22 of Munster's points in a 22-16 win at Thomond Park in December 2013. It finished 32-23 to Munster at the Sportsground with Andrew Conway, Gerhard van den Heever, Denis Hurley and Paddy Butler touching down.
