In Pics: Ireland’s 6 Nations Win

Ireland retained the 6 Nations title on Saturday after a 40-10 victory over Scotland at Murrayfield.

And of course at this stage everyone knows it wasn't just as simple as that as the nation held their breath when a dramatic turn of events saw England chase a 26-point winning margin against France up until the dying minutes.

The super Saturday of 6 Nations rugby started in equally dramatic circumstances when Wales recorded their biggest win over Italy in Rome, and Ireland then needed to win by 21 points against Scotland to move to the top of the table.

And, that they did, when the men in green delivered their biggest win over Scotland with Captain Paul O'Connell, Sean O'Brien and Jared Payne all scoring tries.

The focus then switched to Twickenham and the thrilling encounter of England v France where both sides battled it out until the very end in an entertaining 90 point game and try-fest. But despite England scoring 55 points, France's 35 point haul was enough to deny them the 6 Nations championship as they missed out on reaching the required 26 points difference to displace Ireland.
