Holders Cork Constitution begin their defense with an away tie to last season’s finalists UL Bohemian. The winners will progress to a home tie in the quarter final stage of the competition against the deciders of Cork Clubs Midleton and Sunday’s Well.
Recently promoted Richmond will hope to continue their winning streak from last season when they take on division 1A club Garryowen at home in their opening round. The winners will go on to face either Young Munster or Tipperary side Cashel in the quarter final.
The winners of Shannon and Bruff will progress to a home quarter final draw against the winners of Dolphin and Thomond.
UCC are at home to Nenagh Ormond and the winners will take on the deciders of the Old Crescent and Highfield clash which will be played in Limerick.
The ODM Financial sponsored Munster Senior Cup is an integral part of Munster’s domestic rugby season with the opening round scheduled to be played in September 2013. The winners will go on to represent their province in the All Ireland Bateman Cup currently held by Cork Constitution.
Commenting at the draw Dan Murphy stated “we are delighted once again to confirm our sponsorship of The ODM Financial, Munster Senior Cup. We have sponsored this competition for the past number of years and it’s a competition that has always been close to our hearts being the blue ribbon trophy of Munster Domestic Rugby.
Indeed this year our sponsorship is very poignant with the passing this year of Niall O’Driscoll former President of Munster Rugby and a former Partner of ODM Financial. Club Rugby has always been one of the bedrocks of the traditional Munster game and it is by the promotion of domestic competitions like the ODM Financial Senior Cup that ultimately the professional team will benefit.
This ethos aligns with ODM Financials business model where we work hard with individuals to devise a game plan to secure their financial futures. The Sponsorship It is therefore a natural fit between ODM Financial and Munster rugby as sponsor and the Munster Senior Cup competition.”
