Gathering At The Well

On Saturday the 14th of September, Sunday’s Well Rugby Club will host a gathering reuniting past and present club members in The Clubhouse at Musgrave Park, Cork.

The event is an opportunity for old teammates, coaches and families to get together and celebrate their involvement with the club throughout the years. Starting at 5pm on the day guests will enjoy food and live music in the company of the club’s greatest rugby players.

The official launch took place on Tuesday night, the 13th of August at the home of Sunday’s Well in Musgrave Park. Among the many distinguished guests was Ken O’Connell who came back to the club after a number of years for this special occasion. In a heartfelt speech, Ken spoke about the impact the club has had on him as a player and revisited some memories from his time at The Well. Ken, who currently coaches for Munster Rugby U18 Schools, closed his speech with a passionate statement about how his experience at Sunday’s Well taught him always to play to win. He also highlighted the importance of keeping current and past players connected to their clubs.

Speaking at the launch for “Gathering at the Well”, Niall Murphy (Club President) said “The purpose of this gathering is to welcome back lapsed members, past players and forgotten souls into the club and remind them we’re still here and they are as always, welcome”.

Tickets for the event are priced at €;20 and can be purchased from club committee members or directly contacting the Club at 021 496-5735. For more information visit www.sundayswellrfc.com

Sunday’s Well R.F.C was formed in 1906 and has maintained an active participation since 1923. Throughout this time the club has excelled on a national level gaining much recognition for their performance on the rugby pitch. Outside the rugby pitch however the club has formed a tight-knit community of former players who remain active in the club’s activities. “Gathering at the Well” celebrates this extended family and aims to carry the tradition further.
