Strong Munster A Side

Strong Munster A Side

Munster A coach Ian Costello takes a strong squad to Dublin tomorrow for the Interprovincial clash with Leinster in Donnybrook (2.30).

It includes Felix Jones at full back, Johne Murphy on the wing and the particularly interesting pairing at half back of Peter Stringer and JJ Hanrahan in the number 10 jersey.

Last time Munster visited they took a wrecking ball to Leinster's hopes of British & Irish Cup glory with an injury time try from Dave Kilcoyne helping Costello's side to a 36-29 victory. Kilcoyne of course, under the guiding glove of Paul McCarthy has since progressed to the national squad and is expected to be named in the Ireland XV starting XV when it's named tomorrow.

So this time around it's James Cronin who will bed down alongside Sean Henry and Christy Condon in the front row with Ian Nagle and Dave Foley directly behind them.

Hanrahan's U20 World Cup colleague Shane Buckley is at blindside with the experienced though youthful Tommy O'Donnell at 7 and even more youthful Paddy Butler anchoring the scrum. Butler will captain the side.

Shannon prop Kevin Griffin is the only non-contracted player in the squad though he did play in the game against Ulster in September and with the game that was scheduled for Thomond Park Stadium next weekend against Ulster now cancelled it means this encounter tomorrow will act as a lead-in to Munster's December 8th Round 3 British & Irish Cup against Rotherham Titans (Clifton Lane).

Munster A: Felix Jones; Johne Murphy, Danny Barnes, Ivan Dineen, Ronan O'Mahony; JJ Hanrahan, Peter Stringer; James Cronin, Sean Henry, Christy Condon; Dave Foley, Ian Nagle; Shane Buckley, Tommy O'Donnell, Paddy Butler capt. Replacements: Duncan Casey, John Ryan, Kevin Griffin, Brian Hayes, Phil Donnellan, Ryan Murphy, Duncan Williams, Scott Deasy, Cian Bohane.
