Injury Update

Donncha O’Callaghan, who was forced to retire (hamstring) in the course of the Leinster game, had a scan yesterday and indications are he will be in the squad for the Racing Metro game when it’s announced later in the week.

Marcus Horan is also expected to be in contention for a place in the squad while a decision on Niall Ronan will be delayed until it is seen how he comes through training this week.

Mike Sherry left the stadium on Saturday on crutches but merely as a precaution after he twisted an ankle but the positive news from the weekend was the return to action of Luke O'Dea who played with his club Shannon while Johne Murphy has returned to full fitness as has Felix Jones who will be back in action ahead of schedule in the coming weeks.

Munster face into a busy fortnight on two fronts with games in the Heineken Cup and British & Irish Cup. While Rob Penney takes his side to Paris, Ian Costello will be heading for the south of England and the opening game as defending champions against Plymouth Albion.

Costello will therefore, be very happy to have seen some of his core players involved in club League action last weekend. Danny Barnes and Christy Condon featured for Dolphin alongside Academy players Cian Bohane, James Cronin and Ireland U20 captain Niall Scannell.

Barry O'Mahony, Corey Hircock and Ronan O'Mahony turned out for Garryowen.

In the UL Bohs v Cork Constitution game, JJ Hanrahan, Sean Henry and Tommy O'Donnell came up against Munster teammates Scott Deasy, John Ryan plus Academy players, Philip Donnellan, Johnny Holland and Cathal O'Flaherty. Hanrahan contributing 8 points as Bohs won 23-15.

Brian Haugh (Munster Academy) kicked a conversion and three penalties in Young Munster's win over St Mary's while Darren Sweetnam made his club debut for UCC.
