O’Gara Leads Munster

O’Gara Leads Munster

In the absence of squad skipper Paul O’Connell, Munster will be led this evening by out-half Ronan O’Gara in the sold out Magners League tie with The Scarlets at Musgrave Park (7.30pm).

Although The Scarlets will be without the likes of Regan King, Simon Easterby and Deacon Manu they do include Lions pair Stephen Jones and Matthew Rees who are both included on the bench.

Munster are eleven points clear of The Ospreys who have a game in hand, and Leinster, with two games left after this evening’s match, away to Cardiff Blues and a final home game against Ospreys.

On paper therefore it looks a strong position to be in but as team manager Shaun Payne points out that scenario could change dramatically were Ospreys to make the most of their game in hand. “If Ospreys were to take maximum points from their game in hand, all of a sudden they are right on our coat tails and we have to travel to the Arms Park and then play them in the last game. So this competition is a long way from over and will go right down to the wire I believe.”
