Winning Start For Schools Junior Cup Holders

Crescent Comprehensive College made a winning start to their Avonmore Milk Munster Schools Junior Cup campaign with a narrow victory over Castletroy College at Rosbrien.

Crescent Comp. 9, Castletroy College 8.
Due to the bad weather the game was switched from Dooradoyle to Rosbrien.
In a closely fought first half skipper Garoid Lyons opened the scoring with a penalty after twenty minutes. Just before half time full back Greg O’Shea kicked two penalties to leave Crescent ahead 9-0 at the interval.
Castletroy came back into the game with a try from Mark McCarthy after ten minutes. Full back Paul Butler closed the gap to the minimum with a penalty but the Dooradoyle College held on for a home quarter final place.
