Winning Start For Munster U18 Schools

The Munster Under 18 Schools interprovincial side got off to a winning start last Friday beating Ulster 18-15 at Pirrie Park.

Ulster took the lead after two minutes into the match with an impressive try to secure a 5-0 advantage.

Two minutes later Munster’s Daniel Feasey responded with a well worked try beginning from the half way line, with out-half Ben Healy adding the extras.

A Healy penalty on the stroke of the first quarter extended Munster’s lead however Ulster responded on the 30 minute mark with their own successful penalty kick to reduce the gap to 10-8 at half time.

Munster were first to score in the second half with another successful penalty kick from Healy, however the travelling side took a setback when Ulster touched down for a converted try on the 49th minute taking a 15-13 lead.

Five minutes later a huge driving maul from the Munster pack resulted in a try from replacement Finn Burke bringing the score to 18-15 in the visitor’s favour.

Munster managed to hold on to their lead until the final whistle, and with two crucial turnover penalties from Burke and replacement Ben Roche, finished up 18-15.
