Crosshaven won the Second Division title in the Munster Junior League and in doing so, were the only club to win all their league games this season, as Mallow and Bandon clinched their places in the All Ireland Junior Cup next season and Fethard are relegated from Division 2.

The opening games in the Bank of Ireland Munster Junior Cup produced no upsets.

In a closely fought contest at Kilballyowen Park, Midleton defeated Bruff 17-12 with two tries from Cian Lambe, a penalty by Odhran Mahony and two conversions by James Fitzgerald. Darragh Browne and Mike Cooke replied with tries for Bruff and Matthew Daly kicked a conversion. Midleton will now travel to Shannon in the Second Round of the competition.

Douglas recorded a 15-14 away win at Dungarvan. Ben O’Flynn and Luke Johnson scored tries for Douglas. Patrick Carey kicked a conversion and a penalty. Brendan Cullinane and Seamus Keating replied with tries for Dungarvan and both were converted by David Hickey.

Douglas’ reward is a home tie against Tralee next week, after the Kerry side defeated Scariff 28-10. Cathal Kearney scored two tries for Tralee, and Chris Lowe and Fionn de Quadros got one each Gavin Peevers converted all four tries. Evan McMahon and Clement Chalard replied with tries for Scariff.

Clonmel defeated Waterford City 24-7, with Waterford’s score being a penalty try. Clonmel will now travel to U.L. Bohemian next week.

The semi-final draw for the Bank of Ireland Munster Junior Bowl is Dungarvan v Scariff or Waterford City and Thomond will host Bruff.

Junior League winners Kilfeacle lost their unbeaten run, when they lost at Bandon 31-0, a result that sees the West Cork side qualify for the All Ireland Junior Cup. Scott Kingston and Tadhg Galvin each scored two tries for Bandon and Enda Phelan got one. Daniel Coughlan kicked three conversions.

Mallow also qualified for the All Ireland Junior Cup, following their 34-7 home win against Richmond. The winners led 29-0 at the interval and had two tries from Barry Taylor and one each by Owen Glynn, Michael O’Callaghan and Tomas Maldonado. Riley Harrison kicked three conversions and a penalty. Darragh Joyce replied with a try for Richmond and Tom McMahon converted.

Despite losing 10-7 at home to Sunday’s Well, Clonakilty finished as runners up in the League. Clonakilty took the lead with a try by Jack Ryan, which Eoin Downey converted, The ‘Well hit back with tries by Cormac Kelliher and Ewan Kennedy.

Skibbereen preserved their First Division status with a 42-31 away win at Muskerry. Kieran Shannon, Conan Farrell, David Shannon, Jack Kent, Matthew Sheehan and Tom Beare scored tries for Skibb’ and David Shannon kicked three conversions and two penalties. Muskerry replied with two tries from Brian McCarthy and Shane Coleman and Hayden Fisher got one each. Rob Cahill kicked four conversions and a penalty.

Clanwilliam lost at home to St. Mary’s 17-10 and will have to get something from their final game against Skibbereen to have any chance of avoiding relegation. David O’Brien was Clanwilliam’s try scorer and Niall Leahy kicked a conversion and a penalty. Ed Kelly and Paul Loughran replied with tries for the Saints, and Adam Guerin kicked two conversions and a penalty.

Newcastle West defeated Kanturk 33-15 in their final game. Shane Airey and James Guinea scored two tries for Newcastle West and Sean Murphy also got a try. Guinea kicked four conversions. Andy Vaughan and Eanna O’Mahony replied with tries for Kanturk and Paul O’Keeffe kicked a conversion and a penalty.

Crosshaven wrapped up their season with a 31-10 away win at Youghal in Division 2. Niall Deane, Adam Kent, Killian Twomey, Josh McCarthy and Pa Cotter scored tries for Crosshaven and Jack O’Connell kicked three conversions. Tom Sheehan scored Youghal’s try and Nathan O’Halloran kicked a conversion and a penalty.

Kinsale finished their campaign two points behind Crosshaven, after their 47-7 away in at St. Senan’s. Gavin McCarthy scored two tries for Kinsale, and David Ogden, David Evans, Dan Graham, Darragh Mangan and Paul Graham got one try each. Dylan Lacey kicked six conversions. James Kennedy replied with a try for Senan’s and Sean Guilfoyle converted.

Ennis defeated Fethard 29-14 to send the Tipperary side down to the Third Division. Dylan Kenny, Jarlath Collins (3), Conor Morrisey, Calum Barrett, Seanie Keane, Luke Fitzgerald and Conan McGonigle were the Ennis try scorers and Kenny kicked seven conversions. Brian McCormack and Ben Fogarty replied with tries for Fethard and both were converted by Peter Wall.

Castleisland lost away to Waterpark 26-0. Scott Nolan, Gary Walsh, Mark Hayes, and Nick O’Donoghue scored tries for Waterpark and Dermot Lannon kicked three conversions. These sides are due to meet again next week in the Munster Junior Cup.

Fermoy ensured their safety with a 52-5 home win against Abbeyfeale. Ian Pratt scored two tries for the winners and Eoghan Leddy, Daire Carroll, Peter Finn, Jack Duggan, Eoin Lacy and Alan Ross got one each. Lacy kicked six conversions. Jimmy Kelly was Abbeyfeale’s try scorer.

Charleville lost at home to Carrick-on-Suir 33-14. Jack Boylan scored two tries for Carrick’, and Oscar Geoghan, James Daly and Braedon Wheeler got one apiece. Fionn Barry kicked four conversions. Jessie Smith and Jack Buckley were the Charleville try scorers and Kian Smith converted both.

Ballincollig defeated Cobh Pirates 29-0. Louis Herdman, Aaron Hurley, Michael O’Shea, John Hogan and Diarmuid Phelan scored tries for Ballincollig and Adam Dodd added two conversions.
