It was another disappointing day for most of the Munster Men’s sides involved in All Ireland action this weekend, but for U.L. Bohemian’s Women, they toppled leaders Galwegians to take over top spot in the table.
Cork Constitution slipped to another defeat in Division 1A of the Men’s All Ireland League, as they lost at home to Clontarf 17-3. Aidan Moynihan kicked a first half penalty for the Temple Hill side.
Young Munster lost away to U.C.D. 34-12. Shay McCarthy scored both of Young Munster’s tries and Shane O’Leary added a conversion.
Nenagh Ormond are still searching for their first points in the topflight as they lost at home to Ballynahinch 24-3. Charlie O’Doherty kicked the Tipperary side’s only score, a penalty in the opening half.
Garryowen boosted their promotions hopes with a 29-15 away win against high flying City of Armagh in Division 1B. Fionn Rowsome scored three of Garryowen’s five tries, with JJ O’Neill and Des Fitzgerald getting one each. Lachlin Stewart kicked two conversions.
A last-minute try denied Highfield a big upset in Belfast, as they lost 17-15 to Instonians. Chris Barron and Shane O’Riordan scored tries for Highfield and O’Riordan kicked a conversion and a penalty.
U.C.C. still remain bottom of the table despite winning their first game of the campaign with a 27-12 victory against Queen’s University at the Mardyke in a game that was also their annual colours game. Neville O’Leary scored two tries for the home side and Charlie O’Shea and Ben O’Conor also scored tries. O’Shea kicked two conversions.
In Division 2A, Shannon got themselves back into promotion contention with a10-7 away win at Greystones. The Limerick side led 10-0 at half time with a try by Luke Moylan and a conversion and penalty by Jamie Gavin.
A second half comeback by Ballymena saw them come from 20-0 down to win 29-23 at home to Cashel.
Old Crescent slipped into the relegation zone, after their 15-7 away defeat at Banbridge. Stephen Kiely scored a try for Crescent and Jeff Williams converted.
In the top of the table clash in Division 2B, it was leaders Galwegians who came away with the spoils after their 43-21 win at the 4GUL pitch against U.L. Bohemian. Cian Casey scored two tries for the home side and Liam Neilan one. All three were converted by Oisin Fagan.
Thomond’s unbeaten run in Division 2C came to an end as they lost to second placed Clonmel in Tipperary by 24-22. Jack Walsh and Brandon Delicato scored tries for Clonmel, who were also awarded a penalty try. Josef O’Connor kicked two conversions and a penalty. Thomond replied with tries from Sam Birrane, Luke Fitzgerald and Suliano Mainavolau. Evan Cusack kicked two conversions and a penalty.
Midleton still remain in the play-off places after their 24-22 away defeat to Belfast Harlequins. Joannes du Toit scored two tries for Midleton and Ryan Lehane one. Seamus Lyne kicked two conversions and a penalty.
Bruff slipped to sixth place after their 21-15 away defeat by bottom side Malahide. Wiktor Wilczuk scored Bruff’s two tries and Paul Collins kicked a conversion and a penalty.
Dolphin’s 35-14 home defeat by Bective Rangers saw them slip closer to the trap door. Sam Boyle scored two tries for Dolphin and Hunter Yarrell converted both.
U.L. Bohemian defeated Galwegians 36-24 at the 4GUL to take over top place in the Women’s All Ireland League. Chloe Pearce scored three tries for the winners and Lucia Linn, Éabha Nic Dhonnacha and Caitriona Finn got one each. Finn kicked three conversions.
Four tries from Aoibhin Donnelly and a conversion from Patricia Coote helped Ennis to their third win of the campaign after a 22-15 home win against Cooke.
Ballincollig suffered a heavy 65-7 away defeat to Old Belvedere. Brighid Twohig scored Ballincollig’s try and Emma Connolly converted.
St. Mary’s ended Munster’s interest in this season’s All Ireland Junior Cup, as they suffered a heavy 60-28 defeat at home to Creggs. The Connacht side raced into a 26-0 lead after fifteen minutes and a quick start to the second half ended any hopes of a Saints revival. Paul Curtis, Keith McManus, Adam Guerin and Stephen Hayes scored tries for Mary’s and all four were converted by Guerin.
