The Bank of Ireland Munster Senior Cup takes centre stage this weekend, with the first round down for decision.

There is also a number of games taking place locally in South Munster, North Munster, Kerry and Tipperary.

Last year’s beaten finalists Old Crescent and Garryowen get the show on the road in Bank of Ireland Munster Senior Cup at Takumi Park on Friday evening. The winners will be away to UCC in the quarter finals.

On Saturday, holders Nenagh Ormond begin their defence of the trophy against UL Bohemian at the North Tipperary venue. The winners will be rewarded with home advantage against Cork Constitution or Dolphin, who meet in a Leeside derby at Temple Hill.

Midleton, whose only appearance in a final was in 2003, welcome Thomond to Towns Park. Thomond mark their return to the competition after a six-year absence. The winners will be at home to 2011 winners Bruff or Shannon, who meet at Kilballyowen Park.

Cashel, who reached the semi-finals while still a Junior Club in 2005, welcome Highfield, whose only triumphs were in 1966 and 1968, to the Premier County. The winners will meet Young Munster, who last won the trophy from 2021 to 2023 inclusive, or Clonmel, who go head to head at Tom Clifford Park.

In North Munster, the quarter finals of the Transfield Cup are down for decision.

Garryowen host Bruff at Dooradoyle. The winners will be rewarded with home advantage in the semi-finals against Nenagh Ormond or Shannon, who go head to head in North Tipperary.

Newcastle West take on Old Crescent at the West Limerick venue. The winners will be at home to St Mary’s or UL Bohemian, who meet at Grove Island.

On Friday evening, Old Christians lock horns with 2023 winners Sunday’s Well in the opening quarter final of the Cork County Cup. The winners will have a home semi-final tie with holders Mallow or Muskerry, who meet in North Cork.

Kanturk entrain Bandon at the Duhallow venue. The winners will meet Skibbereen or last year’s beaten finalists Clonakilty, who go head to head in a West Cork derby at Skibbereen.

The quarter finals of the O’Neill Cup are also down for decision.

Douglas host Youghal at Castletreasure and the winners will be at home to Ballincollig or Charleville, who meet at Tanner Park, in the semi-finals.

Crosshaven entertain Cobh Pirates at the South Cork venue. The winners will be rewarded with home advantage against Bantry Bay or Kinsale, who go head to head in West Cork.

In the Garryowen Cup quarter final Thurles lock horns with holders Clanwilliam and the winners will be at home to Cashel or Nenagh Ormond in the semi-final.

In Kerry, Castleisland get their McElligott Cup campaign underway with a home tie against holders Corca Dhuibhne, who fell to a heavy 47-12 away defeat against Tralee.

Killorglin get their campaign underway against Abbeyfeale at the West Limerick venue.
