The club season in Munster concludes this weekend, with the Bank of Ireland Munster Junior Cup Final taking place at Virgin Media Park this Saturday, as Cork Constitution go head to head with Old Crescent.

The Lilywhites have reached the decider courtesy of home wins over Skibbereen, Carrick-on-Suir, holders UCC and Thomond. Old Crescent recorded home wins over Thurles, Garryowen, Highfield and Shannon.

The Lilywhites will be looking to record their 20th triumph and win the trophy for the first time since 2018.

Old Crescent won the inaugural decider as Crescent College FC in 1909, running out 7-6 winners over Cork Constitution.

The Limerick side are appearing in their third decider as Old Crescent. They were defeated by Cork Constitution in their previous final appearances in 1951 and 1956. The Lilywhites ran out 5-3 winners in 1951 and put up 16 points without reply in 1956.

Richard Harris played for Old Crescent in the 1951 decider.

The second round of games in the Junior Interprovincial Series is also down for decisions this weekend as Munster lock horns with Leinster at Ballinakill in Waterford.

Munster are looking to make it two wins from two, following their 32-8 victory over Connacht in Westport. Munster claimed all points on offer, courtesy of tries from team captain Kevin Kinnane, Brian P O’Sullivan, Brian J O’Sullivan and Ben Daly. Shane Airey kicked two early penalties and he also converted Kinnane’s try. Adam Guirin, who came on as a replacement, added two further conversions.

Leinster were defeated 49-41 by Ulster in Gorey, but claimed a bonus point, as they scored four tries.
