Ulster Bank League Roundup

5th December 2015 By Munster Rugby

Five of the eight games in the Ulster Bank League that were postponed involved Munster sides.

Garryowen were the only Munster side in Division 1A to play and their trip to Clontarf ended in a 39-25 defeat.
The hosts led 15-8 at half time with James McInerney scoring a try for the Light Blues and Neil Cronin kicking a penalty.
Second half tries from Cronin, Ronan O’Halloran and Conor Oliver and a Cronin conversion secured the visitors a try bonus point.

In Division 1B U.L. Bohemian eased their relegation worries with a 20-13 win over Buccaneers at the 4G pitch at the University Of Limerick.
While the pitch was perfect weather conditions were awful with a strong wind and persistent rain.
The home side played with the aid of the breeze in the first half and were rewarded for the decision when Rick McKenna landed a seventh minute penalty but it was Buccaneers who led 7-3 at half time when the visitors were awarded a penalty try.
Buccaneers extended their advantage with two penalties.
Hooker Philip Dowling got in for a UL Bohemian try which replacement Robbie Bourke converted and then came a powerful last ten minutes from captain and flanker, Ian Condell.
He had the first of two tries five minutes from the end and then as Buccaneers piled on the pressure Condell, deep into injury time, made an interception and raced from halfway to get a second try.

Dublin University proved too strong for Shannon at College Park emerging 36-11 winners.
Ollie Lyons scored a first half try for Shannon and Tadhg Bennett kicked two penalties.

It was a good day for the two Tipperary clubs in Division 2A.

Cashel got back to winning ways with a 43-6 bonus point home win over bottom side Corinthians.
Ed Leamy and Aidan Barron each scored two tries for Cashel and Eamon Connolly and Gavin Ryan got one apiece. Pat O’Connor kicked five conversions and a penalty.

Nenagh Ormond continued their recent revival with a 10-7 away win over second place Naas.
Derek Corcoran scored a try for Nenagh and Jack Molamphy kicked a conversion and a penalty.

Old Crescent have extended their lead at the top of Division 2C with a dramatic drop goal from Shane O’Brien gave them a 14-12 win over Bruff under lights on Friday night.
Bruff who led 12-3 at half time had a try from Graham Whelan and a penalty try which Tony Cahill converted.

Midleton defeated Kanturk 25-0 at the Towns Park. Kevin Brierly, Daniel Murray and Rob Smyth scored tries for Midleton and Stuart Lee kicked two conversions and two penalties.
