Ulster Bank League Round-Up

A mixed day for Munster Clubs with wins for Cork Constitution in Division 1A, while there were first league wins for Shannon, Old Crescent and Sunday’s Well.

With four Leinster clubs holding the top four places in Division 1A both Cork Constitution and Young Munster had victories to keep them in the hunt for a top four finish.

Cork Constitution travelled to Dublin and defeated St. Mary’s 26-15 with first half tries from Michael Keyes and Rob Jermyn. Darragh Lyons converted both and also kicked four penalties.

At Tom Clifford Park, Young Munster defeated Old Belvedere 26-19. This was a thrilling contest during which the lead changed several times.

Ben Martin kicked four penalties and converted tries by Rob Guerin and Derry O'Connor for Young Munster who led 10-8 at the interval.

Dolphin remain bottom of the table after their heavy 47-0 home defeat by leaders Terenure College.

Garryowen kept their promotion hopes alive in Division 1B with a 24-13 away win over Belfast Harlequins. Neil Cronin and Ben Rowley scored tries for the Light Blues and Jamie Gavin kicked four penalties and a conversion.

Shannon had their first win with 30-7 away win over Galway Corinthians. The winners scored four tries to collect a bonus point from John Shine, Lee Nicholas, Stephen Fitzgerald and David O’Donovan. Tadhg Bennett added two conversions and two penalties.

UL Bohemian suffered a second successive defeat losing 30-23 to Ballymena but a late try by Vinny O'Regan, converted by Shane Airey earned them a losing bonus point.

Shane Airey also kicked three penalties and converted another try by Rory White for the home side.

Nenagh Ormond suffered their first defeat of the campaign losing 18-11 away to Bective Rangers in Division 2A.

Thomond moved up to fifth place after their 18-15 away win at Banbridge.

Cashel also had an away win defeating NUMI Barnhall 20-16.

U.C.C. lost away to Skerries 26-21.

Highfield have moved into top place in Division 2B after their 40-26 away win over Greystones.

Midleton lost for the first time going down to Navan 26-19 at the Meath venue.
Tries from Kealan Buckley and Mike Cronin were not enough for Kanturk who lost at home to City of Armagh 17-14.

A try from Cyprian Jouve converted by Shane O’Riordan gave Sunday’s Well their first win with a 7-3 away win over Bruff. Declan Bannon kicked a penalty for the home side.

Old Crescent earned a bonus point in their 31-11 home win over D.L.S.P.

A Brian Mullins penalty was not enough for Richmond who lost at home to Wanderers 37-3, where former Cork players Robert Clune scored three tries and Peter Brougham kicked three penalties and four conversions for the visitors.
