Try At The Death Secures First Victory For Munster Schools Side

The Munster U18 Boys Schools opened the first weekend of Interpro competition with a narrow win against a tough Ulster outfit.

Ulster opened up scoring in the first 15 minutes of the game with tries from winger Harry Wells and full back James McMillan.

But Munster responded with their first try as the clock hit 20 through Roscrea’s Jack Hayes. Daniel Murphy added the extras.

Minutes later Murphy was over for a try of his own nailing the conversion in the aftermath.

Ulster responded in the 27th minute through centre Dyland Gray opening the gap between the sides even more.

Munster closed out the half with a well worked try from the forward pack in the 31st minute

At half time the score-line stood at 19-17 in favour of the home side.

Ulster began the first half depleted to 14 as Harry Wells was sent to the bin.

Munster were over again in the 48th minute through centre Alex Moloney. Murphy followed with the conversion.

But Ulster bit back in the 50th minute as hooker Charlie Reaney found the line off the back off a well supported maul. McMillan added the extras.

Ulster were over again in the 54th minute minute as substitute George Gamble crossed over to give the side a three point advantage going into the final 15 minutes.

But Munster weren’t phased as a try a the death from the forward pack secured them their first win of the campaign with a score-line of 33-29.
