The Sundays Well Rebels are finalising their preparations for IMART 2025 which begins next week in Pamplona in Spain.
The International Mixed Ability Rugby Tournament takes place every year and this year’s edition will see two Munster teams compete, the Sundays Well Rebels and the Ballincollig Trailblazers.
We caught up with the Sundays Well Rebels this week to speak about the growth of Mixed Ability Rugby and the memories of IMART 2022 which Sundays Well hosted in Virgin Media Park.
Sundays Well RFC President Liam Maher said, “Inclusion is the word that describes it completely. Having players out there who don’t have the opportunity to play team sports…that is the essence of what we do. The guys out there who don’t have a disability get as much out of this than the guys with the disability because they’re able to give something back. They’re able to give their expertise on the rugby pitch back to these guys who are learning rugby for the first time .”
Sundays Well Rebels captain John Bransfield said, “My favourite thing about being a Rebels is that it brought me closer to my brother, my father and my sister because they’re huge rugby fans and it brought us all closer. Sharing the pitch with my brother, hopefully at the World Cup, it would be just unbelievable.”

The Ballincollig Trailblazers will also be travelling to Spain for IMART 2025 next week and you can hear more about their journey from a previous interview we did with the Cork side ahead of IMART 2022.
