Young Munster missed out on moving into third spot of the Ulster Bank League as all promotion and relegation issues are decided on the final day of the Munster Junior League.

Dolphin eased their relegation worries in Division 1A of the Ulster Bank League with a 13-12 win over Young Munster at Musgrave Park. Eric Moloney scored a try for Dolphin who led 10-9 at half time and Barry Keeshan kicked a conversion and two penalties. Alan Kingsley replied with four penalties for the Limerick side.

Cashel completed their Munster Junior League campaign with thirteen wins from thirteen games with a 35-19 home win over Kilfeacle. The newly crowned champions playing their last Junior League game led 19-5 at half time. John Ed O’Connor scored two of his sides five tries. Pat O’Connor, Ed Leamy and Kevin Quinlan got one each. Darragh O’Brien kicked two penalties and two conversions. Ian Burns, Jack O’Sullivan and Charles Walsh scored tries for Kilfeacle and Shane Luby converted both.

Clanwilliam missed out on a place in the All Ireland Junior Cup next season when a last minute drop goal from Jeff McNamara gave Richmond a 24-23 away victory.

Emmett Harty and Ian Madden were try scorers fro Richmond and Darragh Frawley added a conversion and three penalties. Kieran Merrigan scored two tries for Clanwilliam and Ian Quinlan got one. Brian Kissane kicked a conversion and two penalties.

Tralee ensured a top five finish with a 29-22 away win over Crosshaven. Dan O’Connor, Gareth Walsh, Jason Thong and Dermot O’Sullivan were Tralee’s try scorers and Walsh kicked three penalties. Crosshaven replied with two tries from Eamon Ring and one each by Andrew Lane and Chris Kearney. Lane converted one of the tries.

Ballincollig already relegated from the First Division finished their campaign with a 47-0 away defeat at Skibbereen. Brad Childs scored three tries for the home side and Peter Stout, Kieran Shannon, Matt Darby and Sean O’Neill got one each. Darby kicked six conversions.

Cobh Pirates finished in second last place after their 20-10 away defeat by St. Senan’s. Brian Collins and Ronan O’Callaghan were the Clare side’s try scorers and Declan Collins kicked two conversions and a drop goal and Ger McNamara also added a penalty. Cobh replied with a try from Mark Chandler and a conversion and penalty by Jack Hickey.

Old Christians came from 17-0 down to beat Thurles 19-17. Conor Quaid, Stephen O’Donoghue and Tom Maher scored tries for the Cork side and Aidan Tobin and Conor Mangan kicked a conversion each. John Lillis and Barry Dwyer scored tries for Thurles and Lillis converted both and also added a penalty.

Waterpark defeated Clonmel 15-14 with two tries from Martin O’Neill and a conversion and penalty by Jarrod Dunbar. Clonmel replied with a try by Mark Corby and three penalties from David Hoyne.

Galbally won the Second Division title making it twelve wins out of twelve after they defeated Kinsale 45-15. Tom Davern and Niall McNamara scored two tries each for the County Limerick side and Shane Flavin, Stephen Bourke and James Stapleton got one apiece. Darren Guerin kicked five conversions. Benjamin Alary and Pat O’Regan replied with tries for Kinsale and Peter Murphy kicked a conversion and penalty.

Kanturk also won promotion to the top flight for the first time with a 26-8 away win over Castleisland. John O’Sullivan and Paul Cotter scored tries for Kanturk and Darragh Meade converted both and also added four penalties. Mike Cronin was Castleisland’s try scorer and James Flynn kicked a penalty.

Newcastle West finished in third place after they picked up maximum points in their 47-19 home win against Youghal. The West Limerick side led 19-5 at half time with tries from Alan O’Riordan, Niall Kelleher and Richard Langford. Tom Kelleher converted two of the tries. Alan Moloney replied with a try for the visitors.
Donal O’Sullivan, Tom Kelleher, Niall Kelleher and Sean Berkery all scored tries after the break for the West Limerick side and Tom Kelleher converted three of them and Karl Hayes one. Moloney and Aaron Walsh scored tries for Youghal and Aaron Daly converted both.

Muskerry lost away to Ennis 13-0. Conor Mahony scored a try for the Clare side and Bryan Murphy kicked two penalties and a conversion.

St. Mary’s eased the worries for both Kinsale and Muskerry by defeating Charleville 22-9 to send the North Cork side down to the Third Division next season. Darragh Fitzgerald scored three tries for the Limerick side and Darren Clancy one. Sean Lyons converted one of the tries. Frankie Holly replied with three penalties for Charleville.

Killarney continued their recent good run with a 22-12 home win over Bandon. Alan Mulligan, Colin McCarthy and Andre Hegarty scored tries for Killarney and Paudie Sheahan kicked two conversions and a penalty. Scott Kingston and Ritchie Crowley replied with tries for Bandon and Richard Milner kicked a conversion.

Mallow finished their campaign with a 38-24 away win over Newport. Dave Walsh scored three tries for the winners, Kieran O’Gorman got two and Brian Morris one. Morris converted four of the tries. Newport replied with tries from Tom Ryan, Bryan Collins and Darragh Ryan. Michael Ryan converted two and Darragh Ryan also added a drop goal.

Presentation clinched the Third Division title with a 20-7 away win over Abbeyfeale. The winners led 17-7 at half time with tries from Stephen Ryan, James Ryan and David Coleman and Mark Phair kicked a conversion. Phair added a penalty after the break and Abbeyfeale replied with a try from Conor Prendeville and a conversion by Andrew Scannell.

Scariff won promotion for the first time with a 25-13 win over Waterford City in their top of the table clash at the Clare venue. It was 13-12 to Waterford at half time. Jason Power scored Waterford’s try and Darren Walsh kicked a conversion and two penalties. Conor McNamara and Rory Slattery scored tries for Scariff and James Kelly kicked a conversion. A second try from McNamara after the break and a conversion and two penalties by Kelly ensured victory for Scariff.

Corca Dhuibhne defeated Douglas 24-22. Ciaran Collins scored three tries and two conversions and Chris Ferriter also got a try for the West Kerry Gaeltacht side.

Kilrush defeated bottom side Shandon 21-3.

Cobh Pirates defeated U.C.C. in the Junior Two Cup South 22-7 in a repeat of last season’s final. Ian Jones scored two tries for the winners and Peter Mullen one and Martin Carroll kicked two conversions and a penalty.

Dolphin over came the challenge of a strong Bandon side 32-12 at Old Chapel. It was 13-12 to the visitors at half time with Cillian Glynn kicking three penalties and a drop goal for the home side but the fast pace of the game proved too much after the break. Tim Cotter scored two tries for Dolphin and Jesse Griffin and Adam Sheehan one apiece. Pat Ahern kicked two penalties and three conversions.

Tralee booked their place in the semi finals with a 28-0 away win over Highfield. Eoin Kelliher, Brendan O’Mahony, John Power and Terence Liston scored tries for the Kerry side and Gordon Kerins kicked two penalties and a conversion.

Fermoy booked their place in the final of the Junior Three Cup South with a 27-5 home win over Cork Transport. John Roche, Darren Hartnett and Liam Crowley were try scorers for Fermoy and Tom McAuliffe kicked three conversions and two penalties.

It was a bad day for the Munster sides in the quarter finals of the Frazer McMullen Cup. Cork Constitution were the only winners beating St. Mary’s College 23-21 at Temple Hill.
Lansdowne defeated U.C.C. 33-23 and both Shannon and Garryowen also lost. U.C.D defeated Shannon 42-10 at Coonagh and Clontarf were 57-27 home winners over Garryowen at Castle Avenue.
