State Of Play | Munster Clubs Age-Grade Cup Competitions

The Munster Clubs Age-Grade Cup competitions have officially begun with the opening two rounds of the boys U18.5 and U16 kicking off earlier this month.

In Group One of the Munster Boys Clubs U18.5 Cup Cobh Pirates top the table with six points after two games as they defeated Shannon 38-17 and drew with Highfield nil all.

In second place is Clonakilty with four points from a 30-0 win against Shannon.

Highfield sit in third with two points from their draw against Cobh Pirates.

While Shannon occupy the fourth and final spot in the table having lost both their opening games against Cobh Pirates and Clonakilty.

Waterpark have taken the top spot in Group Two with two wins from two against Old Christians and Thomond-Richmond.

Killarney are second with one win as they defeated Old Christians 19-17.

Old Christians are third after being defeated by both Waterpark, which finished 17-28, and Killarney.

Propping up the bottom of the table is Thomond-Richmond after losing their opening game to Waterpark 7-37.

Group Three sees Crosshaven-Cork Constitution take the top spot with two wins in two games and a total of eight points.

Dungarvan and Desmond Rugby currently sit level in second and third place respectively with four points apiece.

Dungarvan suffered defeat to Crosshaven-Cork Con in their opening round game which ended 19-30. They then went on to defeat Nenagh Ormond with a final score of 31-15.

Desmond on the other hand, also defeated Nenagh Ormond with a score of 26-20 before being beaten by Crosshaven-Cork Con 19-22.

Nenagh Ormond occupy the final spot in Group Three having lost both of their opening games against Dungarvan and Desmond Rugby.

Last season’s champions, Bandon RFC, top Group Four with eight points from two wins.

Kinsale sit in second on four points after defeating Carrick-on-Suir 15-0 before being beaten by Bandon 14-20.

Carrick-on-Suir are third having drawn six all against Mallow and then being beaten by Kinsale.

Mallow are level with Carrick-on-Suir with two points to their name after drawing with Mallow and losing out to table toppers Bandon 8-21.

In the Boys Clubs Under-16 Munster Cup Nenagh Ormond top the table in Group One with eight points from their first two games.

Kinsale sit in second with four points from their opening game against Mallow that they comfortably won 35-7.

Mallow take the third spot having been beaten by Kinsale and conceding to Nenagh Ormond.

UL Bohemian prop up the table in fourth having lost to Nenagh Ormond 10-24.

Cobh Pirates take the top spot in group two with a win against Shannon and a loss to Old Christians earning them four points.

Kanturk are second and are level on points with Cobh Pirates after Shannon conceded their opening round game.

Old Christians are third and also on four points after they defeated Cobh Pirates 26-19 in their first game.

Shannon take the final place on the table after losing out to Cobh Pirates 40-10 and conceding against Kanturk.

Ballincollig Black occupy the top spot of Group Three in the Munster Boys Clubs U16 Cup with one win and one loss.

Waterpark Black are second and level with Ballincollig on points after their opening round 36-5 win over the Cork side.

Ennis are in third and are also on four points having beaten Garryowen-Newport 32-7.

Garryowen-Newport are in fourth having lost out to Ennis 32-7 and Ballincollig Black 19-7.

In the final grouping of the Munster Boys Clubs U16 Cup Crosshaven-C0rk Constitution take the top spot with four points after beating Desmond Rugby 24-0.

Midleton sit in second, level on points with Crosshave-Cork Con, having beaten Dungarvan 30-0.

Desmond Rugby and Dungarvan sit in third and fourth place respectively having lost their opening round games.

Fixtures for both competitions will continue in the New Year with the top two of each group earning their place in the knock out stages.
