The dome at the new Cork Centre of Excellence was a hive of activity last week as the Rugby Development Department hosted a successful Active Coaching badge (ACB) workshop.
The Active Coach Badge is a CPD program to supplement coaching awards.
The IRFU ‘Active Coach Badge’ courses are intended to provide coaches who have achieved the IRFU Children Coach, Youth Coach or Senior Coach Award(s), with ongoing continuing professional development (‘CPD’), information and opportunities to ensure that learning and development of their coaching skills continue throughout the season.
Last week a course was held based on one of the key cornerstones, Catch/Pass. The event was hosted by Women’s Development Officer Damien Hicks with the assistance of Willie Schubert, Tamsin Richards and Athletic Development Coach Danny Johnson. The coaches were invited to attend a session with the girls Region Development Squad where they were shown a number of drills and coaching cues that they can use going forward in their coaching careers.
It was a very successful evening with 32 coaches from clubs across the province in attendance.
Check out some photos from the night below.
