Cork Constitution 21 – 19 Old Crescent
Cork Constitution were crowned Bank Of Ireland Junior Cup champions this afternoon after a tantalising battle with Limerick rivals Old Crescent.
Old Crescent got scoring underway in the seventh minute as Glen Kelly slotted over a penalty.
But Con responded just five minute later with a penalty of their own from out half Aidan Moynihan.
Crescent score their first try of the afternoon through John Toland.
The Leesiders fought back and earned a try of their own in the 36th minute as Josh Daly picked and went from the back of a messy ruck.
Aidan Moynihan added the extras.
Old Crescent had the final say of the half as Kelly slotted a second penalty putting the Limerick natives just one point in front at the whistle.
Con got the second half underway with a try from hooker George Good with the wind catching Moynihan’s kick and sending it wide
Crescent responded in the 45th minute to bring the sides to 15-16.
Crescent were reduced to 14 in the 66th minute as Kevin Doyle was sent to the bin awarding Con a kickable penalty.
But Old Crescent weren’t finished as they were awarded a penalty of their own in the 74th minute to bring the score line to 18-19 with just over five minutes left on the clock.
A final burst from the Temple Hill residents earned them a last minute penalty from just inside the half way line. George Coomber cool as ice sent the 40 metre kick right through the middle of the uprights securing the victory with the final score of 21-19.
