On a very quiet weekend, Old Crescent booked their place in the quarter finals of the Bank of Ireland Munster Junior Cup, as Bruff claimed the Munster Junior Bowl title and Tralee reached the Martin O’Sullivan Cup Final.

Last season’s beaten finalists Old Crescent have advanced to the quarter-finals of this years competition,after their 22-19 victory over Shannon at Takumi Park in a thrilling encounter.

Jason Aylward gave Crescent a great start with a try, which Aaron Cosgrove converted. Cosgrove extended the home side’s advantage with a penalty. Shannon made ie 10-5 with a try from Kelvin Brown, but a second Old Crescent try from Sean Donnarumma gave the hosts a 15-5 interval lead.

Shannon came back into the game with tries from Brown and Tommy O’Driscoll, both were converted by Rory O’Gorman to lead 19-15 entering the final stages but a try from Tevita Toia converted by Cosgrove saw Crescent await for next week’s winners between Sunday’s Well and Kilfeacle in the last eight.

Bruff won the Bank of Ireland Munster Junior Bowl title for the second time, when they defeated Scariff 18-8 in the final at Kilballyowen Park. Adam O’Dwyer and Dylan O’Leary scored tries for Bruff and Matthew Daly kicked two penalties and a conversion. Scariff replied with a try from Mark Walsh and a penalty by Alex Boblea.

Tralee will face Killarney in the final of the Martin O’Sullivan Cup, after they defeated Killorglin 37-17 in the semi-final. Cathal Kearney and Dylan Corcoran each scored two tries for Tralee and Alaister Hoban got one. Stephen Turner kicked three conversions and two penalties. Cormac Doyle and Joe Langham replied with tries for Killorglin and both were converted by Luke O’Shea, who also added a penalty.

Kilfeacle won the Gleeson League title for the first time with a 12-7 win against Thomond-Presentation at Coonagh. Kilfeacle will now play U.C.C. in the Munster final for the Tony O’Flynn Cup.

Two Decie Fitzgerald penalties were not enough for U.C.C. who lost at home to M.U. Barnhall for the second year running in the Frazer McMullen U20 Cup semi-final.
